Relax onboard our high-speed deluxe catamaran as we take you on a 2.5-hour cruise from Darwin to the Island town of Wurrimiyanga on Bathurst Island. Disembarking to meet your local guides and minibus, you'll set off on a cultural exploration of the town.
Discover the rich aboriginal culture and participate in a traditional smoking ceremony and totem dance that welcomes you onto the land. Hop-on and off the bus at significant sites to learn about Aboriginal stories, protocol, and the meanings behind complex rituals such as the Pukamani (burial ceremony).
Stopping at Tiwi Islands art centres, you’ll have the pleasure of sharing a cup of billy tea and damper with the ladies and other artists as they weave, sew, sculpt, and paint. Here you will be able to truly appreciate the Tiwi Island artists' skills and have the opportunity to purchase art at Island prices.
After lunch, be enlightened as your guide takes you through the unique old Catholic Church with stunning architecture in the Early Mission Precinct, and then onto the Tiwi Museum to learn more about traditional art and depictions of the Tiwi ‘Dreamtime’ stories.
At the end of the day, your local guides will drop you back to the SeaLink ferry to enjoy your return journey back to Cullen Bay.
