DAY 1: On Thursday, depart Darwin at 8:00am on the Tiwi Mantawi for a 2 ½ cruise across the Beagle Gulf to Wurrumiyanga on Bathurst Island. Meet your Tiwi Islands guide and join the Tiwi By Design tour. Later in the afternoon, transfer to the Tarntipi Bush Camp, approximately 15 minutes drive from Wurrumiyanga, to meet your hosts the Portaminni family.
Tarntipi Bush Camp provides a beautiful, nature-based setting, one kilometre from the gorgeous Tarntipi Beach. A nearby fresh water hole, Mudlangapi, provides opportunity for a swim. The campsite is in a bush setting with eco-friendly amenities including toilets, showers, eco-tents, a kitchen area and camp fire area. Night time around the fire is a particularly special time to listen to some local story-telling, songs and cultural information. You will have dinner around the camp fire before settling in to your eco-tent for the night.
DAY 2: On Friday, you will spend time with a local family and unwind, observe and participate in Tiwi Islands life, taking part in activities including fishing, hunting, mangrove walks and finding fresh water creeks. Transfer back to the SeaLink ferry for the trip back to Darwin, with unforgettable memories of your time with the Tiwi people. (Breakfast & lunch provided).
